The Challenger Division, a separate and unique unit of Little League Baseball,

was created as a means of allowing school-aged children with physical and/or mental

disabilities to directly participate in this wonderful sport.

The league is geared toward children with any type of special need which might make involvement in standard sports programs difficult.  Some of the children who participate have very minor difficulties, while others face greater challenges. Peers play the role of ´┐Żbuddies´┐Ż on the field, assisting players as needed and allowing parents a rare opportunity to sit back and enjoy watching their children.  On teams organized around ability, as opposed to age, the players are encouraged to participate the best they can - both at bat and in the field.
